Thanksgiving is literally right around the corner. While I’ve been trying to come to terms with the time of year, it’s so hard with the weather in Minnesota being warm then cold, then warm then cold. It’s a confusing mess where everyone gets confused. I want to have one season and not a mix between the two so that I won’t get let down when we have a beautiful day of 70’s then the next day is 40 degrees.

Along with this season comes “Thanksgathering” hosting responsibilities. While I’d like to say that I’m a good host, something always seems to go wrong when it is my turn to accommodate everyone. Nothing ever seems to go as planned, ever. Please tell me that I am not the only one?

It seems like Thanksgiving is the holiday where there is lots of entertainment from cooking fails, and family time just goes awry. Maybe it’s just my family, but I swear we have a whole new set of family bloopers when this day rolls around. I mean we could write a book about past experiences from all the funny stuff that has happened, all the recipes gone completely wrong, and all the messes that have happened; then it seemed terrible, now it’s just funny.

I have to admit, one thing you may not know about me is that I can be a perfectionist. I like things neat and tidy and I have an obsession with clutter. I hate clutter. It makes me nervous, it’s horrible. I will have dishes that need to be done and I can’t go to bed until they are done because I cannot stand to think of them just lying there in my sink.

It’s horrible, I know!! But with the help of S.C. Johnson I am able to keep the little things that bug me at bay! I headed over to my local Home Depot to prepare for our gathering and I picked up a Glade® Apple Cinnamon Candle and some Pledge® Multisurface – Antibacterial Spray Cleaner to help keep my house clean and smelling good.

The Pledge® Multisurface – Antibacterial Spray Cleaner is amazing and helped me prepare for our company as well as clean up any messes that were left behind because, like I said, our Thanksgivings don’t usually go as planned and we do have little kids around, so spills, sticky messes, and about everything in between is known to happen. Pledge® really takes care of the things I love! I use it to clean our laminate counters and stove, but it’s also amazing on glass and electronics!

We also like to create a pretty centerpiece for our table each year and the Glade® Apple Cinnamon Candle not only provided us with an utterly delicious fall smell but the deep red color of the candle really goes well with our holiday décor. We usually have our candle lit when guests are around then blow them out and use them as a centerpiece so the smell lingers.

For our Thanksgathering, I made a sweet and tangy Shredded Brussel Sprout Harvest Salad. It’s a fun twist on the normal brussel sprouts. Shredded brussel sprouts are combined with apples, walnuts, cranberries and parmesan cheese and tossed in a sweet and tangy maple balsamic dressing.

It invokes the fun flavors of fall and makes a perfect side dish for your next holiday gathering! Quick and easy to whip up, literally in minutes, and even the kids will like the taste of this out of the box salad. It has a crisp sweetness that will make people keep coming back!
